Saudi Arabia cracking down on terrorist funding

The country of Saudi Arabia has taken steps to eliminate the threat of funding terrorism within its borders. According to international financial experts familiar with the situation, the Saudi Arabian legislature has passed a law that would criminalize any individual or organization that gives money to or holds funds for any group that is designated as a terrorist group by law enforcement officials.

According to the latest statement from the Saudi Interior Ministry, the major terrorist organizations that have dealings within the country are al-Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood and the Yemeni Houthi Movement. While speaking to a local news outlet, legislator and head of the Shura Council Committee on Security Affairs Dr. Saud Humeid Al-Subei'i said that bringing these groups' financial activities and assets under the country's anti-terrorism laws was one of the most significant steps Saudi Arabia has ever taken.

Al-Subei'i also noted that tracking the terrorist organization's sources of funding would now be one of the primary functions of the government, in order to ensure the safety and protection of Saudi Arabia and all of its citizens. Banks and other financial groups will respond quickly to meet with the new legislation in order to help root out any dangerous or illegal activities in the country. It is the hope of the government that the law will help to highlight Saudi Arabia's total rejection of any terrorism domestically or internationally.

The new legislation has been reviewed by international agencies, and are in total compliance with all international anti-terrorism laws. According to insiders, the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency is already in the process of tracing all funds that have been allocated to groups that have been legally designated as terrorist organizations.
